Continuing construction of the Stormboyz launch area I have added a safety barrier along the walkway using aluminium mesh, brass rods and some styrene angle. I’ve also added the ladder up to the catapult platform and a smaller ladder up to the new catapult winch platform… The catapult winch offers the Stormboy some mechanical assistance [...]
This last week I have been painting the Stormboy who has just lifted off from the take-off ramp. I was looking forward to painting this, firstly to see how the smoke trail was going to turn out and secondly to have my first attempt at using a technique called OSL. OSL or object source lighting [...]
I have now created the lower ramp for Stormboyz to take running take-offs from. The ramp itself is textured to look like planks of wood matching the shorter catapult ramp. I also wanted to have a Stormboy just lifting off… This is the mount for the Stormboy on the ramp. A length of wire bent [...]
I’ve finally started building one of the very first features I planned to have on the deck of my warship… a Stormboyz launch area. The top platform of the structure has a catapult for gaining altitude quickly. Below that will be longer ramp for a running take-off. There is a walkway to the side of [...]
Have recently been painting a few of the crew members. First up a grot using the lift… And secondly a sniper grot taking up a position on the chimney stack platform…
Here is the first glimpse of painted top section of the super structure. It’s still very much a work in progress so other angles are unpainted/unfinished. I’ve mainly been concentrating my efforts around the lift shaft. So far I’m very pleased with how the red is working, and also the bare metal decks.
Seeing as the build of the superstructure top was pretty much complete I decided to go ahead and prime it so I could have a go at painting my first major component of the warship. I was interested to find out how the large expanses of plating were going to look.
This past week I have been working on the rear of the superstructure. The wall of armour plating has been continued around the back and I’ve added a small curved section of railing around the chimney stack. The chimney stack has also been extended downwards to connect to the main deck. On the main chimney [...]
This weekend I’ve spent a bit of time working around the back of the superstructure, preparing it for some detailing. However as that’s a bit dull at the moment here is the Gatling gun having received its paint job. I’m very pleased with the metals, especially the rust and wear on the platform, and the [...]
So another little job that’s been lingering on the to do list for some time… the other firing position on the roof of the superstructure. I decided to go for a nice chunky Gatling gun, operated by another of my old Bad Moon ork boyz.
